Fish species in Coffeeville Lake

Coffeeville follows the Tombigbee upstream toward Demopolis, with creeks and backwaters breaking up the long river corridor. The Choctaw National Wildlife Refuge borders part of its lower reach.

Give the creek water time

Turkey, Okatuppa and Copper Salt creeks are places to consider for largemouth fishing. Work a plastic around actual wood or vegetation, stopping to make a second cast where the cover changes. For crappie, a small jig gives you a controlled way to check different depths around branches.

Pick a launch close to the reach you want to fish. A modest route leaves more time in the creeks and less time retracing the channel. Check refuge boundaries before entering a bank or backwater that falls within them.
