Lake Lewisville offers a useful choice between bridge crappie and open-water white bass. Rather than carry every presentation to every stop, choose which fish you want to pursue first and rig for the depth and cover involved.
Under a bridge
A small crappie jig can be lowered beside a piling and held nearly still. Begin above the cover and work down to it. Standing timber elsewhere in the lake gives you a second structural target if a bridge is crowded or unproductive.
Across a hump
Hybrids use humps and ridges in Hickory Creek and the main lake. A spoon or shad-pattern soft bait can be counted down to a located school. Summer white bass activity may be visible at the surface; cast beyond the edge of the feeding fish instead of placing the boat over them.

Remember the old Lake Dallas area
The old Lake Dallas portion is a recognized catfish area within today’s reservoir. Try cut bait for blue catfish or prepared bait for channels, placing the rig near a depth change. Lewisville’s 1954 impoundment on the Elm Fork Trinity encompasses more than one useful fishing landscape, even when the shoreline looks uniform from a distance.
