Blue Ridge Lake is a 3,290-acre TVA reservoir on the Toccoa River in Fannin County. It stores about 228,045 acre-feet and is one of Georgia's best-known mountain fisheries for smallmouth bass and walleye.
What Makes Blue Ridge Different
The lake is steep, clear and deep, with rocky points, bluff banks and creek channels. Seasonal TVA water levels can expose large amounts of shoreline, so the productive depth and available cover change through the year.
Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass
Jerkbaits, tubes, finesse worms, jigs and crawfish-patterned crankbaits work around rocky points and bluff ends. Clear water rewards long casts and natural colors.
Walleye and Crappie
Walleye use deeper points and channel edges, especially during low-light periods. Jigs, live bait and trolling crankbaits are practical. Crappie can be caught around brush and timber with small jigs and minnows.
A Practical Blue Ridge Game Plan
Start with rocky points and nearby deep water. If the lake is low, do not expect the same shallow cover to be available. For walleye, fish early, late or after dark around deeper structure. For bass, keep finesse tackle ready.
