Lake Tobesofkee is a 1,756-acre reservoir in Bibb County west of Macon. It stores about 43,054 acre-feet and supports largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, bream and hybrid or striped bass.
What Makes Tobesofkee Different
The lake has a developed shoreline with docks, points, coves, bridge structure and creek-channel water. Its manageable size makes it easier to learn than Georgia's giant Corps reservoirs.
Bass and Crappie
Bass can be caught around docks, points and shoreline cover with spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs and soft plastics. Crappie respond to small jigs and minnows around docks, brush and deeper creek-channel structure.
Catfish and Hybrids
Catfish can be caught with cut bait, worms and prepared bait around channels and flats. Hybrid or striped bass may school around baitfish in open water, making small swimbaits and spoons useful.
Where I Would Start on Tobesofkee
Lake Tobesofkee has enough docks, points, coves, bridge structure, and creek-channel water to give anglers several patterns without being overwhelming. I would start shallow around docks or points for bass, then check nearby brush and channel structure for crappie. If baitfish begin showing in open water, a small spoon or swimbait is worth keeping ready for hybrid or striped bass.
A Practical Tobesofkee Game Plan
Pick one creek or shoreline section and fish it from shallow cover to the nearest channel. Tobesofkee is small enough that a productive depth or dock pattern can often be repeated elsewhere without a long run.
