Cedar Creek changes as you travel toward the dam. The upper and middle lake offer a largemouth starting point, while the deeper, clearer lower water gives spotted-bass anglers a different setting.
Two ends of one lake
Try a compact jig around upper-lake cover, then a smaller worm or swimbait when exploring deeper rock. For crappie, work a light jig above brush before lowering it into the branches.
Cedar Creek was impounded in 1979 for flood control and belongs to the four-lake Bear Creek system. Hellums Mill, Slickrock and Britton Bridge are among the access names to consider when choosing which end to fish.
