Triadelphia is the upstream Patuxent reservoir above Brighton Dam. It offers wooded fishing water close to the Washington-Baltimore area, with several recreation areas around its shoreline. Walleye add an appealing target alongside bass, but checking the ramp status is part of choosing where to begin.
Lake facts
- Lake size: About 800 acres
- Fish to target: Largemouth bass, walleye and panfish
Where to fish
Work a soft plastic along cove edges for bass, then compare the nearest point and deeper slope. For walleye, a bottom-oriented jig in lower light is a sensible starting presentation. Keep the drift controlled so you can tell the difference between bottom, wood and a bite rather than dragging blindly through cover.
Getting on the water
Big Branch, Greenbridge and Triadelphia are named access areas. On October 16, 2026, WSSC listed those ramps open but Pigtail closed to trailers because of the water level. Check the live status before towing. A watershed use permit is needed in addition to the applicable fishing license.
A few things to know
WSSC issued a blue-green algae advisory in August 2026. Read its current health notices before boating or fishing and avoid contact with blooms. Shoreline recreation and picnicking remain subject to posted restrictions, including temporary closures for water quality or managed hunts.
