Little Creek Reservoir is a 947-acre water-supply lake in James City County. The inventory lists a maximum depth around 59 feet. Virginia DWR describes steep shoreline drop-offs, crystal-clear water and numerous creek arms.
What Makes Little Creek Different
Newport News Waterworks can supplement Little Creek with water pumped from Chickahominy Lake or Diascund Reservoir. That makes it part of a connected municipal water-supply system rather than an isolated impoundment.
Largemouth Bass and Chain Pickerel
Clear water and steep banks can make bass easy to spook. Jerkbaits, finesse worms and long casts are useful. Chain pickerel respond to jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and live minnows around shoreline cover.
Saugeye and Panfish
DWR stocks saugeye here, giving anglers a hybrid walleye target in eastern Virginia. At Little Creek, small jigs, minnows and trolling crankbaits are practical around deeper points for saugeye. Bluegill and redear respond to worms and crickets.
A Practical Little Creek Game Plan
Fish quietly and expect clear-water behavior. I would work points and steep banks with longer casts, then use electronics to check deeper water for saugeye before changing areas.
