Clopper Lake is a 90-acre impoundment inside Seneca Creek State Park. Largemouth bass, crappie, channel catfish and sunfish are the main fishing targets, and its small size makes it a good water for learning patterns without long runs.
What Makes Clopper Different
The lake sits in a heavily used state park but still offers a compact warmwater fishery with shoreline wood, points and coves. Maryland's management emphasis on bass and panfish makes it more than a decorative park pond.
Largemouth Bass
Spinnerbaits, squarebills, small jigs and Texas-rigged plastics work around wood and shoreline cover. On a 90-acre lake, I would slow down around every meaningful point or laydown instead of constantly moving.
Crappie, Catfish and Sunfish
Crappie respond to small jigs and minnows around brush. Channel catfish take worms, cut bait and prepared bait. Bluegill and other sunfish respond to worms, crickets and tiny jigs.
A Practical Clopper Lake Game Plan
Pick one shoreline section and fish from the bank toward the first deeper water. If bass are inactive, switch to crappie or sunfish instead of leaving. The lake is small enough for one productive cover type to repeat quickly.
