Catostomus bernardini is retained as the scientific identity. The Yaqui drainage in southeastern Arizona and northwestern Mexico is the relevant geographic context. The name should not be applied to every sucker in a neighboring basin without a supported identification.
Habitat and Behavior
Adults occur in small mountain or desert creeks as well as deep pools, runs and rapids of medium rivers. These different settings show that one current category is too narrow for the full account. The actual occupied habitat remains useful with each observation.
Food and Life History
The upper reference is forty centimeters total length. The short summary does not establish an independent maximum weight, detailed feeding list or complete reproductive sequence. A measured fish can remain a useful specimen record without supplying a resolved species-wide upper mass.
