Range and Identity
Siphateles bicolor is treated in a broad western account extending through Columbia, Klamath, upper Pit and interior California and Nevada drainages. Historically named regional forms have distinct distributions. Those names and localities should remain visible rather than being treated as interchangeable populations.
Habitat and Behavior
Adults inhabit lakes and quiet pools in headwaters, creeks and rivers of several sizes. Vegetation, mud and sand are commonly associated habitat features. A broad river name alone does not indicate whether the fish occupied a sheltered margin or the main current.
Food and Life History
The compilation reports forty-five centimeters total length for the broad species treatment. This is not a claim that every regional form reaches that size. An independent maximum mass and detailed species-wide feeding and reproductive sequence are not established in the checked summary.

Keep the regional form and original locality with measurements. A size from one lake population should not automatically become a maximum for a small spring-associated population elsewhere.
