A quick look at the water
| County | Ashland County, WI |

| Maximum depth | 31 feet |

| Recorded fish | 7 |

I would keep the first trip pretty simple with a simple look at the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach and I would pay more attention to where the first bite comes from than what lure caught it.
Recorded fish species
On the species side, Torrey Lake currently has Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch on record; so the first trip would at least account for weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and leave room to adjust if the first idea is wrong.
My basic approach
If we were fishing Torrey Lake together, I would rather learn one shoreline, bay, point, or break than spend the whole day running around, and I would check the current regulations before keeping anything.
