Monastery Lake

Monastery Lake is a Wisconsin lake located in Milwaukee County and the best current size-and-depth record is about 13 acres and a maximum depth of 30 feet, which gives you a decent picture of what kind of day on the water you are planning.

The first things worth knowing

I would start broad, then slow down once something starts making sense by giving the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach more than a couple of throwaway casts and I would pay more attention to where the first bite comes from than what lure caught it.

The species currently tied to Monastery Lake include Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch; so the first trip would at least account for weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and leave room to adjust if the first idea is wrong.

How I would fish it

For somebody fishing Monastery Lake for the first time, I would rather learn one shoreline, bay, point, or break than spend the whole day running around, and I would check the current regulations before keeping anything.
