I would spend more time watching the water than changing baits with most of my time going to shoreline cover, weed edges, and the first clean drop away from the bank and I would pay more attention to where the first bite comes from than what lure caught it.

The fish list

The fish currently listed for Lake Placid include Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Pumpkinseed, Walleye, and Yellow Perch; so the first fishing plan would include weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and points, breaks, and wind-pushed edges for walleye, and leave room to adjust if the first idea is wrong.

What I would try before anything fancy

If this were my day on Lake Placid, I would make the day about finding one repeatable clue instead of collecting waypoints, then I would read the current Wisconsin DNR rules so nothing about the trip is based on an old limit.
