I would keep the first trip pretty simple with a simple look at shoreline cover, weed edges, and the first clean drop away from the bank and I would keep whatever works instead of changing it just because the next spot looks different.
On the species side, King Lake currently has Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch on record; so the first trip would at least account for weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and give the plan a fair shot before abandoning it.
If we were fishing King Lake together, I would rather learn one shoreline, bay, point, or break than spend the whole day running around, then I would make one last stop at the Wisconsin DNR rules before calling the trip ready.
