I would keep the first trip pretty simple and I would build the day around the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach before I spent the rest of the day chasing somebody else's old fishing report.
Recorded fish species
On the species side, Clear Lake currently has Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch on record; which gives me something real to work with around weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and keep the first trip from getting too complicated.
My basic approach
If we were fishing Clear Lake together, I would start with obvious fish-holding water and let actual bites tell me whether to stay or move, then I would confirm the current Wisconsin rules for the species I plan to target.
