Up in Vilas County, Canteen Lake is a lake and the best current size-and-depth record is about 23 acres and a maximum depth of 27 feet, so at least you are starting with real numbers instead of guessing from a map.
The basic picture
| County | Vilas County, WI |

| Surface area | 23 acres |

| Maximum depth | 27 feet |

| Recorded fish | 5 |

I would rather get two useful clues than make twenty random stops by giving the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach more than a couple of throwaway casts and I would only make a big move if those places truly look empty.
What anglers can target
The current fish list for Canteen Lake includes Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch; so the first trip would at least account for weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and avoid hauling gear for every fish in Wisconsin.
How I would spend the first few hours
Before I made the drive to Canteen Lake, I would rather learn one shoreline, bay, point, or break than spend the whole day running around, and I would make sure the current Wisconsin fishing regulations do not add a special rule for this water.
