Buff Lake

Buff Lake is a named lake in Sawyer County and the numbers attached to this water are about 24 acres and a maximum depth of 22 feet, and that is a much better place to start than pretending every lake fishes the same.

A quick look at the water

I would keep the first trip pretty simple with most of my time going to the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach before I started running around looking for something better.

Recorded fish species

On the species side, Buff Lake currently has Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch on record; so the first fishing plan would include weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and then let the actual bites decide what comes next.

My basic approach

If we were fishing Buff Lake together, I would use the fish list and the lake's size as a guide, then let current conditions settle the details, then I would check the current Wisconsin rules before the first cast.
