Buck Lake is a lake on the Barron County map and its basic numbers come out to about 71 acres and a maximum depth of 20 feet, and that is a much better place to start than pretending every lake fishes the same.

I would not try to turn the first trip into a science project and I would start where I can clearly see or understand shoreline cover, weed edges, and the first clean drop away from the bank before making the day harder than it needs to be.
The current species list
Right now, the inventory connects Buck Lake with Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch; so the first few setups I pack would cover weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and then let the actual bites decide what comes next.
How I would learn the lake
Going into a first day on Buck Lake, I would fish the places that make sense for the species on the list and avoid chasing every rumor I heard online, then I would check the current Wisconsin rules before the first cast.
