Baker Lake is a Oneida County water listed as a lake and the best current size-and-depth record is about 47 acres and a maximum depth of 9 feet, so you know roughly what you are getting into before loading the boat or walking the bank.

What you are dealing with

For a new-to-me lake like this, simple beats clever by giving shoreline cover, weed edges, and the first clean drop away from the bank more than a couple of throwaway casts and once one type of water shows life, I would look for more of the same.

Fish tied to this lake

The present inventory shows Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch at Baker Lake; and that is enough to put some time into weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and avoid chasing a totally different kind of fishing without a reason.

How I would keep it simple

If I were headed to Baker Lake tomorrow, I would rather learn one shoreline, bay, point, or break than spend the whole day running around, and I would pull up the current Wisconsin fishing regulations before leaving home.
