Back Lake

Marinette County is home to Back Lake, a mapped lake and the basic lake data comes in at about 12 acres and a maximum depth of 22 feet, which gives you a much better starting point than trying to read too much into a satellite view.

A simple read on the lake

I would let the first few spots tell me what kind of day it is going to be and I would begin around the best bank cover, any obvious weeds, and the deepest water I can reach and once one type of water shows life, I would look for more of the same.

The species on record

For fishing, the current record for Back Lake shows Black Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Yellow Perch; and that gives me a simple starting point with weeds, wood, rock, or docks for bass and weeds and easy cover for panfish, and avoid chasing a totally different kind of fishing without a reason.

What I would do first

If I were putting together a simple plan for Back Lake, I would start with a simple plan and only add complexity if the fish make me, then I would verify any special water rules before deciding what can go in the cooler.
