Range and Identity
Notropis chrosomus corresponds to Hydrophlox chrosomus in the retrieved account. Native records include the Coosa, Cahaba and Alabama systems and the extreme upper Black Warrior region, across Alabama and neighboring parts of Georgia and Tennessee. This is not a distribution through every southeastern drainage.
Habitat and Behavior
Clear gravel riffles and pools, including spring-associated waters, provide habitat. The account includes more than one channel feature, so a single photograph from a pool should not erase riffle use. Local substrate, clarity and connection to spring water add useful detail.
