Range and Identity
Lepidomeda altivelis belonged to the White River drainage in the Pahranagat Valley. The name must remain distinct from other spinedaces and from the surviving Pahrump Poolfish. Similar Nevada place names do not establish that these fishes shared the same species identity or spring system.
Habitat and Behavior
Historical habitat records describe spring outflows. These are records of former occurrence, not proof that a fish can still be found at those locations. A museum specimen or old collection locality should retain its date when used to reconstruct the distribution.
Size and Life-History Records
The compiled upper length is 7.9 centimeters total length, with a common historical reference of 5.1 centimeters. These measurements remain useful for describing the fish, but no present population size, modern spawning calendar or current capture advice is inferred from them.

Keep historical wording throughout a record of an extinct species. An old habitat description should not become a suggestion that the fish remains available to observe or catch.
