Eurasian Waters
The native range spans multiple European and Asian drainages, including waters connected with the Baltic, Black and Caspian seas. Introductions have added populations elsewhere. Keep introduced records separate from native distribution rather than treating every modern occurrence as part of the original range.
Feeding and Behavior
Ide takes insects, plant material and fish. The mixture can vary with size and available food. Young commonly form schools, while adults are more solitary, so observations of a group of small fish and a lone large individual can both fit the species account.
Spawning and Size
Adults move toward spawning areas where adhesive eggs attach to gravel or plants. The compiled maximum is 85 centimeters standard length, ending at the tail base. A separate weight is not inferred from that length, and total-length comparisons need their own measurement label.

Standard length excludes the tail. Keep that endpoint visible when comparing an Ide reference with a photographed or measured catch.
