Interior Distribution
The range includes Nevada and eastern California systems such as the Humboldt, Truckee, Carson and Walker, with additional neighboring basins. Introduced records occur outside the native region. Keep those introductions separate rather than extending the original range automatically to every occupied watershed.
Shore and Stream Habitat
Fish use lake margins as well as pools and slow runs in streams. These settings differ in water movement but share relatively sheltered conditions. A record should identify whether it came from a lakeshore or a flowing tributary rather than merging both into one habitat label.
Size and Identification
The compiled maximum is seventeen centimeters total length. The scientific name is Richardsonius egregius. A side photograph with fins and body markings visible, accompanied by a precise lake or tributary, supports comparison with other western minnows that can look similar at a glance.

A modern occurrence outside the native basin can be real without being native. Preserve that distinction when describing distribution.
