If you are looking at Lake 30-7, you are looking at a Wood County reservoir and the current record puts it at no dependable acreage or maximum-depth figure in the current record, so you can get the scale of the place before you ever make a cast.

Size, depth, and the lay of the lake

The first trip does not need a giant tackle plan with a short rotation through a few easy-to-read spots that give me different depths or kinds of cover before I started running around looking for something better.

I am leaving the fish list for Lake 30-7 alone until there is better exact-water evidence; that may be less exciting, but it is a lot more useful than bad information, and rather than hauling gear for every fish in the state.

If I had a few hours to figure out Lake 30-7, I would choose a few spots that look different from one another and give each one a fair chance, and I would still look at the current Wisconsin regulations before fishing.
