Drum Lake is a lake in Louisiana, near St. Bernard County.
In St. Bernard Parish, Drum Lake is listed as a lake, which makes it sensible to learn the nearest stretch before making a long run. I would begin around one sheltered section of bank instead of trying to cover the whole water, because a first trip should give you a useful clue rather than a tour of every corner.
A dependable standalone acreage, maximum depth, and storage figure is not published for Drum Lake, so on a first visit I would avoid building the day around an estimate. I would spend more time getting a feel for the place before choosing a pattern, and the first visit can answer the practical questions that a missing measurement cannot.
The fishery at Drum Lake is lightly documented, and I would rather treat the first outing as a chance to identify the main targets, and that gives me a reason to let the first catches narrow the plan. I would keep things simple with a small tackle bag with a few soft plastics and live bait, because the goal is to find out what responds before narrowing the tackle any further.
My first plan for Drum Lake would be to fish one manageable short stretch deliberately and make changes only when the results justify them; I would spend more time fishing a promising area than driving around looking for a perfect one.
