Murphy Lake

Anglers looking at Troup County will find Murphy Lake, a reservoir; I would give one straightforward piece of water a fair chance and resist moving until I get a useful answer from the opening stretch. A first trip should leave me with something specific, so I would stay around one promising piece of water until I get a useful clue from the first area.

Murphy Lake Size, Maximum Depth and Volume

Reliable acreage, maximum depth, and storage figures are hard to verify for Murphy Lake, so I would leave those numbers open until a current management document publishes a figure and fish one easy-to-read piece of water until I get a useful clue from the first adjustment.

Fishing This Water

A reliable fish list for Murphy Lake is difficult to confirm, so I would carry a small tackle bag with a few soft plastics and live bait, fish one manageable section of bank, and leave the target open until I see enough in the first few casts. I would keep the tackle narrow on Murphy Lake, fish one nearby section of bank, and avoid changing everything until I see enough in the nearby water.

A Practical Murphy Lake Game Plan

My first plan for Murphy Lake would be to fish one short shoreline stretch deliberately and change one variable at a time only after I see enough in the opening stretch. When I get a clear read from the first area, I would stay around one sheltered shoreline stretch on Murphy Lake and build the rest of the trip around that pattern. If I get a clear read from the first adjustment, I would count that as a successful first visit and come back to Murphy Lake with one promising section of water already on the short list.
