Shirt Tail Lake is a lake in Florida, near Bay County.
This Bay County water is recorded as Shirt Tail Lake, a lake, and I would spend the first part of the trip around one manageable area near the launch until I get a clear read from the first few casts. On unfamiliar water, I would rather fish one nearby area near the launch until I get a clear read from the nearby water than make several random moves.
Available measurements describe Shirt Tail Lake as about 23.2 surface acres, and those numbers help decide how large an area to fish while I work one short piece of water until I get a clear read from the opening stretch.
A dependable species list for Shirt Tail Lake is still hard to verify, so a first trip makes more sense with one versatile setup with a jig, spinner, and bait rig around one sheltered piece of water, staying flexible until I learn something from the first area. I would rather use a small selection of dependable baits around one straightforward section of bank on Shirt Tail Lake and wait until I learn something from the first adjustment before changing direction.
A practical first day on Shirt Tail Lake starts with one promising section of bank and one target species; from there I would change depth before changing every bait after I find a repeatable bite in the first few casts. If I find a repeatable bite in the nearby water, I would keep working one easy-to-read shoreline stretch on Shirt Tail Lake and treat that as the main lesson from the first visit. If I find a repeatable bite in the first hour, I would keep track of the depth and presentation around one manageable shoreline stretch so the next trip to Shirt Tail Lake starts with a real plan.
