Range and Identity
Etheostoma fricksium occurs in the Edisto, Combahee, Broad and Savannah drainage systems of South Carolina and Georgia. Because several rivers share the name Broad, an observation should include the larger drainage as well as the stream name.
Habitat and Behavior
Creeks and small rivers provide the documented habitat. Fish occur in gravel riffles and in runs with gravel or sand, often among vegetation. These settings include more than one current and bottom combination, so a vegetation-associated record does not mean the fish requires still water.

The reported upper length is 7.4 centimeters total length, with 4.6 centimeters as a common reference. The checked summary does not establish an independent maximum mass or detailed feeding list. Diet from a similarly named darter is not substituted without species-specific evidence.
