Range and Identity
Mulloidichthys pfluegeri is recorded from the Reunion region toward Hawaii, the Marquesas and Society Islands, with other northern and southern Pacific localities. The scientific name should accompany observations because several goatfishes share similar colors and general body outlines.
Habitat and Behavior
Schools occur over sandy patches and limestone at depths beyond thirty meters and to at least 110 meters in the account. These are documented observations rather than an absolute depth boundary. The fish is mainly active during daylight.
Food and Life History
The upper reference is forty centimeters standard length. Individuals may display alternating darker and lighter red bars while feeding. That behavior does not establish a complete prey list, and the checked summary does not supply an independent maximum mass or detailed reproductive calendar.
Field Note
