Range and Identity
The scientific identity is Mylocheilus caurinus × Richardsonius balteatus. Research at Stave Lake included first-generation hybrids and backcrosses to Peamouth. Those categories were combined for parts of the ecological comparison, so the results should not be described as applying only to a single uniform hybrid generation.
Habitat and Behavior
At the study lake, hybrids were more abundant in open lake water, resembling the Peamouth pattern. Redside Shiner was more associated with surface water near shore. This is a documented local comparison, not a universal habitat rule for every occurrence of the cross.
Food and Life History
Hybrids consumed substantial zooplankton and some insects, again resembling Peamouth in that study. Their diet was not significantly different from the parent in the reported comparison. No maximum length or mass is inferred from this ecological result or borrowed from either parental species.
