Nueces River Origin
The original collection locality was about seven miles west of Uvalde. That geographic anchor helps interpret a name applied to a Texas minnow with a complex taxonomic history. It should not be expanded into a claim that every Texas Dionda belongs to this species.
Taxonomic History
Some catalogs formerly placed texensis in the synonymy of Dionda serena. Subsequent studies restored recognition of Dionda texensis. An older account under the broader name may therefore combine observations that need separate review today.

Freshwater habitat is documented, but a precise maximum length or weight needs an independently attributable measurement. Likewise, reproductive schedules from neighboring Dionda species should not be imported without evidence. The river, scientific name and source date make a record traceable.
