Identification
Connected dark blotches form a wavy-edged side band that joins a larger tail-base mark. Adults lack bright body colors and an orange first-dorsal-fin band.
Size and Weight
The reported maximum standard length is 6.5 cm, about 2.6 inches before the tail fin. No measured maximum weight was verified.
Habitat and Range
The original description documents the Conasauga and Etowah drainages in Georgia and Tennessee. Fish use small rivers and lower tributaries with sand, gravel, cobble and bedrock. Winter observations include leaf packs in pools.
